Reference: Buttons, Charts and Options

Reference tables for the toolbar, the bottom bar, chart types, chart settings, date filter options and join types.

Button	What it does
Filter	Restrict which rows are included. A badge shows the number of active filters.
Summarize	Count or total rows, grouped by one or more fields.
Editor icon	Show the report as editable steps (Data, Filter, Summarize, Join, Custom column, Sort, Row limit).
>_ icon	View the SQL behind the report.
Refresh icon	Run the report again.
x (while loading)	Cancel a running report.
Save	Save the report (or save changes).
Bookmark	Mark a saved report as a favourite.
i (info)	Description and history.
...	Add to dashboard, Move, Turn into a model, Duplicate, Archive.

Item	What it does
Visualization	Choose the chart type.
Gear	Chart settings: Data, Display, Axes.
Table / chart switch	Flip between the numbers and the chart.
Showing ... rows	How many rows the result has. Large tables show 'first 2,000 rows'.
Download icon	Download full results as .csv, .xlsx or .json.
Bell icon	Set up an alert (needs a saved report and email set up by an administrator).

Click 'Visualization' to open the picker. The list adapts to your data.

Chart	Good for
Table	Looking at the raw rows.
Bar	Comparing counts across categories (the default for grouped data).
Row	Horizontal bars. Good for long category names. Small categories are combined into 'Other'.
Line	Draws the values as a connected line. Best for values in time order. With categories such as vendors, the line simply joins the points.
Area	Like Line, with the area under the line filled in.
Combo	Lets you mix a line and bars in one chart when you have more than one measure.
Pie	Share of a whole. Shows a legend, percentages and the total in the centre.
Pivot Table	A grouped table with totals.
Funnel	Shows ordered stages narrowing down. Use it only for steps that follow each other. For plain categories it gives a confusing shape.
Waterfall	A running total shown as steps up or down. Good for how parts add up to a total.
Scatter	Plots two numeric fields against each other. It stays empty until you choose two numeric fields in the chart settings.
Map	Colours regions on a map from a state or region field (a US map is shown). It stays blank unless the report has a region field.
Detail	Shows one record at a time ('Item 1 of 107') with next and previous arrows. Good for reading one row in full.
Number, Trend, Gauge, Progress	For a single value, or a value against a goal. These appear in the picker when the result is one number, for example a total count.

Tab	Options
Data	X-axis field, Y-axis series (with a '...' menu for each series).
Display	Goal line, Show values on data points.
Axes	For X and Y axes: Show label, Label, Show lines and marks, Scale (for example Histogram).

Quick buttons: 'Today', 'Yesterday', 'Last Week', 'Last Month'.

In the '...' menu: 'Last 7 Days', 'Last 30 Days', 'Last 3 Months', 'Last 12 Months', 'Specific dates...'.

Type	Meaning
Left outer join	Keep every row from the first table. Add matching data from the second.
Right outer join	Keep every row from the second table.
Inner join	Keep only rows that match in both tables.
Full outer join	Keep all rows from both tables.
