How To Import, Chat To And Manage 3rd Party IM Contacts
The explanations on this page will explain how easy it is to import instant messenger contacts into EasyVPN from a range of 3rd Party IM programs. Supported applications include MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Skype chat and Facebook chat. Please click on the links below to go straight to the section you need help with:

- Click Tools > Options > 3rd Party IM
- Click the 'Add...' button at the bottom of the configuration dialog
- Choose the type of account you wish to add from the drop down menu. Available choices are: MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ and Facebook chat
- Enter the authentication credentials required for the IM account (username and password)
- Select the default availability status in the 'Sign in as' drop down (Online, Busy, Offline, Appear Offline)
- If you wish to be automatically logged into this account when you start EasyVPN, check the 'Auto Login' button
- Click the 'Add' button to finalize the process
- Repeat the process to add more accounts
Note - Skype IM accounts are handled slightly differently. You need to log on Skype and allow access for Comodo EasyVPN to use your account.

- Click 'Tools > Options > 3rd Party IM' to open the 3rd party IM settings interface.
- Select the account you wish to modify.
- Click the 'Modify' button.
- Change the 'User Name', 'Password', 'Sign in as' or 'Auto Login' options as required.
- Click the 'OK' button to confirm your choice.
Delete an account
You can delete existing accounts by clicking the 'Delete' button after selecting the target account
- Select the account you want to delete.
- Click the 'Delete' button
- Click on the 'OK' button in order to confirm that you want to delete the selected account


All 3rd party accounts that have been added will be displayed as icons directly above the contacts/networks list. Accounts that you are currently not signed into will have a small red 'X' next to their icon. Just click on any of these will bring the menu out (Connect/Disconnect/Change status).

Contacts menu
The Contacts menu contains the following options
- Show Offline Contacts - if this option is checked, EVPN will show all contacts regardless of whether they are online or not
- Sort by Name/Status - Sort by contact name then online status
- Sort by Status - will display contacts in the following order: Online > Away > Busy > Offline.
- Show in Groups - will display contacts by groups of which they are a member
- Show IM Groups - will show contacts in their protocol group rather than groups they belong
- Show Empty Groups - if this options is selected then even groups with no members will be displayed
- Show First Name only/Show Full Name - Allows you to choose how contact names are displayed. 'Full Names' are useful if you have many contacts with the same First Name

Add a New Contact
The 'Add a New Contact button' will open a dialog that allows you to add a new contact to a 3rd party IM account (you must be signed in).
- Account - Allows you to choose contacts from a particular IM account type
- Contact's ID - Specify the email address (or other appropriate contact ID) of the contact you wish to add
- Group ID - Allows you to assign the contact to a group
- Request Information - Allows you to type a short introductory message to the contact along with the invitation request

Chat/conference chat
The '3rd IM chat/conference chat allows launch chats by simply double clicking on the contacts name. You can send messages, files and smilies and nudges via chat. The avatar image on top-right corner shows the account protocol of this chat.
- Right click on the contact and select 'Chat'
- Type your message and click 'Send'


EasyVPN also allows you to chat to more than one contact in the same conversation. Contacts participating in a conference chat are displayed in a panel on the right.
After you've contacted a person and you started a conversation, you can click the Invite button (from the top bar), and then select another user, who want to attend the conference. Follow the steps:
- Contact a person (double click OR right click on name from the contact list and select the Chat option)
- Send a message
- Click the Invite button
- Select the user you want to attend the conference with
- Click the OK button
